Forgiveness and Why Some People Suck At It

This is not going to be my usual type blog post, but something that I feel I need to get off my chest. You see, in life there are so many people who have some power over you. Whether it be your boss, which is probably the biggest cause of misery among most working adults, all the way down to an internet board moderator.

I recently posted onto a website, which I’ll not name, and through my own ignorance, violated one of their extremely petty “rules” and received a rather nasty message telling me I was banned for life. Really? I waited a few days, and wrote a mea culpa message, and politely asked to be re-admitted to the message board.

The response? A link to a Wikipedia page. “Ignorantia juris non excusat”. Ignorance of the law, excuses not. He also wrote to tell me that any user who violates their “rules” is permanently banned without exception.

I stewed for a few minutes. I’m usually not one to ever get into a back and forth with an idiot but crafted the following response.

“Well, obviously life is never that black and white. I hope you never have the need to plead mea culpa for a mistake you’ve made. Of course, I’m sure you won’t have to, since you are without fault. All the best.”

I then proceeded to “ban” him, so when (and you know he will, because all trolls do) he tries to come back with another smart remark, he’ll see that banning for life can cut both ways.
